I have a74 superglide nice motorcycle Iput shifter dogs in for him and he told me that it shifted backward 1up4down,I guess what my ?is whatis wrong too make it shift backwards,and how to go about fixing this problem.          thanks for the help it is greatly appreciated STACY

I guess I had better ask, did it shift backwards before you put shifter dogs in and is all you did was remove the top cover?
Mike Yes,to both questions,other than pulling out shifterdog shafts,butI put themm back just like they came out,my guessis the top cover shifter cam wasnt in time as it should have been.Maybe im wrong kinda puzzling

The reason the bike shifts backwards is from the foward controls. I have seen this done before. Its to be able to go through the gears upshifting faster. It is not internal in the trans that does this. Its that the shifter linkage is backwards on the foward controls. If you need to fix the problem look at the foward shifter control. I think the linkage is at the bottom and you need to move it to the to top to make it shift the right way.
