Motorcycle Repair: charging, stator coil, crank pulley

hi chris i have a problem with my 89 fzr6oo.it don't charge i have checked the voltage across the battery while running all i get is batery volts the reg/rec was replace about six months ago and i have fitted a new stator windigs and still nothing all it does is eat my battery in minutes this has all come about because i fitted a new engine cos i blew the other up and had to have the crank pulley modified but the engine runs fine so i disscounted this please help

Hi Brian.
 Did you check the wiring for grounding out and shorts?

Did you check the volts AC coming from the stator coil before the reg/rec or battery?

I'll bet that when they put the new engine in, something got pinched or disconnected and that has caused this problem.  remember that you should be getting 13-15VDC at the battery.
 How are the cells of the battery?  If it's new, then they should be ok, but if it's not, then check them with a hygrometer.
