Steering Column Repair: Wiper/Turn signal, wiper switches, multifunction switch

Question
My wipers on my 1993 Chevy Cheyenne don't seem to be working. Where do the wires connect into the steering column to replace the whole turn signal and wiper switch and plug it in? The truck doesn't have a tilt wheel.

Answer
Hi Scott:

Sorry about your truck.  Your truck doe snot have a multifunction switch.  Each of the switches is separate and mounted inside the column.  Here is a link to our new website where you can view an exploded view of your column and the components.

My guess though is that the problem is in the wiper motor, not the switch.  In the 35 years I have been servicing columns, I have only replace abut 6 wiper switches for wiper failure.  Most of the time, it's because they driver snaps the lever off inside.
Those that have wiper failure most often need a motor.  that's here all the dirt and speed changes occur, not in the switch (but I could be wrong),
To answer your question, the wiper plug is the flat black 2" connector under the column right about where your knees are.  Remove the lower panel under the dash (4 screws) and you should be staring right at it.  It will have 4-5 wires.  the longer one with 14 wires is the signal switch.

Good luck

Doug
