Question
I have this bike.  It has been run only once in 10 years.  Will the pistons have to be deglazed?  I've read that restoring old Hondas require this step.

Answer
Tom, the pistons could have a good coat of varnish on them, as well as the cylinder walls. Depends on how and where it has been stored and if it was turned over every so often. I am surprised that it isn't seized from sitting.

I would do everything possible to get the bike ready to run... clean entire fuel system and carbs, replace battery, clean/adjust points, new plugs, adjust valves and camchain tension, etc.

Fire it up and expect it to smoke for anywhere from 5 minutes to about 1/2 hour or so. If it continues to blow out streams of smoke and has blowby into the air filter housing then you will have to pull the top end for cleanup and new rings, gaskets...  You can do it in the chassis... you don't have to pull the motor.
