Question
I recently washed my cycle like i normally do. This time something strange happend when i started the bike, i notice when i took it for a spin that the tecometer went nuts, it bounce from 0 to 8k rpm then it show your actual rev and so on. even when the igintion key is set to on with the engine off the tech just keeps going from 0 to 8k. im hoping that this had nothing to do with water or etc. how do i diagnost this problem? your help will be highly appreciated.

my bike is a 2001 Yamaha YZF600R.

Answer
Hi Steve,

This is the first I've heard of this.

It could be a damaged circuit board or semi-conductor, etc. Or water could be shorting a component.

I suggest searching for websites dedicated to YZF6R's. Some have message boards for posting things such as this. Other owners may have the fix.
