Question
went to start my car it cranked over a little slow then died I had battery checked, dead.replaced it, still won't start. It cranks over, has spark, is getting fuel.check engine lite was on prior to all this happening. I was told to check my cold start valve?

Answer
Hi Albert -

If the car has spark and getting fuel, then it should start. So, we need to evaluate how it was determined that the car has fuel/spark.

To check spark -
Remove one spark plug wire and insert a screwdriver into the boot until it wedges against the metal terminal inside. Hold the shaft of the screwdriver 1/4" away from any metal surface of the engine. Crank the engine as if to start it. there should be a spark jumping across the gap.

To check fuel delivery -
Remove a hose connected to the intake boot and spray starting fluid inside liberally. Quickly try to start the engine. If the engine starts and then dies off right away, then you so not have fuel delivery and I would check the fuel pump for proper operation.

You should get the OBD code and find out what component is causing it.

Also check the large circuit fuses in the engine compartment on the driver side fenderwell. Perhaps a fuse blew during the battery replacement.

Hope this helps -
