Nissan Repair: car rear bumper and taillight assembly repair

Question
My car, 2000 Nissan Sentra GXE model, gray, was hit by someone in a parking lot and did not leave any contact info.  The right rear bumper has a dent (round) and the side of the bumper is bent up slightly and away from the body of the car.  . The taillight assembly cover is broken, the light is intact and the directional signal works fine.  I have not gotten any estimates for repair yet and am trying to work with my insurance company.  I do not have collision insurance as the car is getting old.  My insurance will cover the glass repair on the taillight assembly.  What do you think would be a good estimate to repair everything?  Also what is your opinion of mobile repair shops?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Peggi -

The most expensive part of the repair is the bumper. The bumper itself may be repairable, but it is the bumper cover (the round dent) that will probably need replacement, and the cost to do that is in the several hundreds depending on who you go to. The next cost is the light assembly which could be about $200 for the entire thing. Just off hand it looks like the repair may be at least $1000 - $1200.

For mobile repair shops, I would urge you to do research. Do a google on the name of the company and ensure they are not some fly by night people.

Hope this helps -
