Nissan Repair: 97 Pathfinder window wont roll up, expecting rain, door switch

Question
Hi.
We went to roll down the passengers window and about midway down is seemed to 'slip off it's track' (& just slid the rest of the way down) - now it won't come back up.

We removed the door panel & the window seems to be seeded on it's track/lift correctly.

We can manually push/pull the window back up but it won't stay up.  We can depress the power switch until it is in the fully down position & the window will be locked in place (so that you can not manually push it back up until you depress the switch into an 'up' position.)

The motor seems to be working fine & we can see the pully/wire moving when the door switch is depressed.  It just doesn't seem to be 'catching' on the lift to bring the window back up!!

Any help would be most appreciated as we are expecting rain on Sunday lol.  THANK YOU!!

Answer
Hi Sheri -

If it is still on its track, then the drive belt is probably broken (it's plastic).

Attached to the motor on both sides you should see this belt. It drives the window up and down. because it takes way more strength to raise the window, the teeth probably stripped, or it is broken altogether.

I don't think you can order it separately, but then by the time you pay labor to install it, you are better off replacing the entire motor assembly.

Hope this helps -
aloha
