Nissan Repair: EGR and Knock sensor code, nissan frontier, knock sensor

Question
I have a 1998 Nissan Frontier 2Wd 2.4L pickup.  When I first start the truck it runs just fine, but when It warms up and goes into closed loop operation it does not run well at all.  When you give it just a little bit of gas it starts chugging and does not want to run.  sometimes it will clear up and run for a second. but then it goes right back to chugging and missing.  I had the codes pulled and the three codes were the EGR,cylinder 3 misfire and knock sensor.  I have tested the TPS sensor and it checks fine and I have also tested the 02 sensor.  I have never had a knock senor go bad and I cannot convince myself that is what is wrong.  If you could give me any insight or opinions on the it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Davey -

I would still suspect the knock sensor since that was the code the ECU was spitting out. I have changed a few in my time.

Also, are you getting a code P1132? If so replace the swirl valve sensor. It sure sounds like that is your problem.

The swirl valve is located in the front of the engine above the belts.

Hope this helps -
