Nissan Repair: 1996 Nissan xe transmission manual hard to change into third and 4th gear and will not go in 5th, accelerator pedal, 5th gear

QUESTION: I started my truck this morning and 1st and 2nd gear were perfect shifting but then when I got to 3rd and 4th its really hard to get it into them two gears but I cannot get it into 5th gear at all need your help??

ANSWER: Hi Mark -

The gear syncs are probably off. Only way to correct that is a trans overhaul.
When the engine is off, you can shift it in all gears correct?

Yes, if it is still easy going in 1st and 2nd when the engine is off and not in other gears, it is the sync.

QUESTION: I also have a 1988 mazda se-5 and I try and start it up and it keeps on cuttin off I have turned up the idle and whenthe motor is hot it runs perfect and then when get it runnin good it starts to act like its ethier gettin too much fuel or not enough and I have changed the fuel filter in it twice what is wrong?

Hi Mark -

When you say it is cutting off, is it after it is warmed up? Also when it does this, is it under load, such as accelerating or going up a hill? Or does it do it just pressing the accelerator pedal?

After it cuts out, does it start right back up?
