Nissan Repair: Ignition problems, 200 sx, battery cable

Question
When I turn my ignition key to the off position the vehicle would not shut off. I had to remove the battery cable to do so. I've since put the cable back on, but now all the car will do is make a clicking sound in the fusebox under the dash as well as the fusebox on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Where do I start looking for the problem? It's a 1997 Sentra 200 SX SE-R 2.0 Liter. Thank you for any advice you may give me.

Answer
Hi Brian -

Get a 12V probe light tester, or volt meter. Go to the starter and check the small terminal where the wire connects to it (The large terminal should always have 12V).

Have someone try to start the engine. When the key is turned as if to start, the small terminal should have 12V. If not, then I would replace the ignition switch.

Hope this helpa -
aloha
