Nissan Repair: 1992 Nissan Sentra E, nissan sentra, crank sensor

Question
One day, on the way to work, this car started idling funny.  I've had two or three injectors go out on it since I bought it, and it ran kind of like that, but different: reduced power, but without the rough idle caused by a cykinder 'missing.'  I managed to drive it most of the way home before it starting dying at stops.  I was able to restart it everytime but the last.  So I had it towed to the garage.  When the mechanic tried to start it, it did start, but gas gushed out of the exhaust.  He told me that it was an electrical problem: the injectors were all stuck open.  I did some research it this, and some folks were saying that this might be caused by a bad ECU.  That sounds plausible, but how can I tell for sure?  Is it possible that the ECU is good, and some sensor that feeds into it is actually what's bad?  What sensors are there that could cause this problem?

Answer
Hi Michael -

First of all, is the check engine light on? If so what code does it show?

Secondly, if the check engine light is not on, turn the ignition on. The check engine light shoud illuminate and stay on for a few seconds and turn off. If it stays on, or does not illuminate at all, the ECU is bad.

Main connected sensors with relation to firing the injectors are the distributor module and the CPS (Crank sensor).

Hope this helps -
