Nissan Repair: 1996 Maxima, starter solenoid, voltage meter

Question
I have 1996 maxima the car runs great and idles smooth it is a 5 speed manual. When I drive the car for an hour and everything is warm. If I stop some where and turn the engine off and try to restart it nothing happens. If I wait sometimes 15 minutes until it cools down the car starts with no problem after that and runs perfectly fine. The engine does not turn over the battery is new. I here the relays under the dash clicking and that's about it. With the warmer weather coming in Canada to is problem takes longer to correct itself.
Thx. Brian

Answer
Hi Brian -

First thing I would check is the starter solenoid. Do you have a voltage meter?

If so, with car in Park, turn ignition as if you were starting the car. Someone needs to be at the starter with the probe on the small terminal of the starter solenoid(other probe grounded. Should read voltage. If so, then replace the starter.

Hope this helps -
