Nissan Repair: noise on shifting, vibration noise, axis point

Question
QUESTION: 2008 versa hb.  When i depress or release the brake or clutch there is a rubbing? noise.  When I release the gas pedal there is a one second delay and the the same rubbing noise.  Mechanic has lubrlicated the bushing and if I take it slow on gearingup there is no noise but on gearling down the noise is there.  Car runs fine, shifting and acceleration are normal.  Where else should we be looking?  Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Colleen -

I need some clarification. Are you saying whether or not you depress the clutch or the brake, the same noise comes out?

Also, this rubbing noise - do you feel a vibration on the steering wheel when this comes out?

It is a vibration noise, not a squeak, correct?

Thanks

QUESTION: It is more of a rubbing noise.  It happens mostly when the clutch is depressed and I am gearing down and then I let out the clutch, when I release the brake pedal or shortly after I let off the gas/  No vibration in the steering wheel or pedals, just noise.  It happens with movement of the pedals but it is not something inside the car rubbing, I have removed all mats that could cause this. Doesn't seem to be cold related but then it is winter and the temp is 3C to -30C.  Hope this helps

Answer
Hi Colleen -

Hmm. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that the rubbing may be coming from the pedal arm bushing area. This is above the pedals, underneath the dash. Try shooting some lubricant, such as WD40 at the axis point of the pedal brackets. Sometimes the clutch and brake operate on the same shaft.

Hope this helps -
