Nissan Repair: Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System problem!!, nissan altima hybrid, nissan altima

Question
I got a 2009 Nissan Altima hybrid. And I want to reset the Vehicle Immobilizer System. Is it possible I can do this myself..

Answer
Hi there, I guess the motor doesn't start because maybe a different key was inserted into the ign. lock or a different key came closed to it. As advanced and secure this system seems to be, to my opinion it's a very STUPID system that causes nothing but head aches to Nissan owners. Of course you can do it yourself if you are able to follow these instructions similar to Nissan: http://www.etimago.com/yaris/repairmanual/Engine%20Immobilizer.pdf. If not, then I recommend a qualified Nissan, preferably an ASE certified technician at an independent repair facility if possible and not the dealer because dealership repair shops sometimes charge unreasonable prices. An independent technician has access to electronic procedure and repair information for any vehicle via ALDATA or other providers. Also, look in your owner's manual for key sequence information.
