Nissan Repair: oil consumption, 2002 nissan altima, nissan altima

Hi I bought a 2002 nissan Altima itworks great lots of power and
it is not smoking at all but it is using about a litreof oil every 500 km it is excessive i was told when I bought it the cat
converter had been gutted dealer says replace engine please help.

We found that if these cars were abused or not properly maintained the catalytic converters would break apart and get sucked back into the engine and score the cylinder walls.  The only repair is to replace the engine with a new catalytic converter and front exhaust pipe.
