Nissan Repair: 97 nissan pickup xe, spark plug wires, crank pulley

Question
truck died while driving and now wont start it has about 45-50 psi fuel pressure while cranking plugs are getting spark but are fuel soaked replaced cap and rotor and plugs someone thaought it could be maf sensor but i thought it was probably timing

Answer
Hi there, seems to me that the timing belt had jumped or broke. Manually turn the motor from the crank pulley with a wrench. Be very careful while you are doing this and if you feel resistance stop! The motor has no tolerance and the valves will hit the pistons when fully open. If this happens, it is a clear indication that the motor is out of valve timing. If the timing belt jumped or broke during normal operation you can expect internal damage because the piston and valves had hit each other and the valve stems are probably bent. I hope not, but at this point it's critical to check the timing components. Also if the distributor has been removed or the spark plug wires had been removed, make sure the ignition timing and firing order are correct. Another thing that needs to be done if possible, is to try and extract the trouble codes (if any) to rule out MAF or other sensors failure.
