Nissan Repair: GQ speedo, vehicle speed sensor, nissan patrol

Hi I have a 1996 nissan patrol my speedo jumps from 1 speed to another(140... 160....120 kph )while in idle  Thanx Vince

A scanning tool should be used to determine if it's a faulty instrument or a faulty vehicle speed sensor. If the scanner reads 0 kph with the vehicle stopped and reads normally when the vehicle moves, then it's the instrument. If not, then it's the speed sensor. A qualified technician can help you out with the diagnostics.
