Nissan Repair: serena sr20 fuel consumption, fuel pressure regulator, poor gas mileage

what is the average fuel consumption for a nissan serena sr20. Mine is doing 7.5 city drive and only 9.2 highway. What should l check to reduce consumption l have done all the servicing and changed all filters. The engine was overhauled last year.

That's a lot of fuel. When the engine was overhauled were all the sensors and actuators reconnected and tested? Has the check engine light ever came on? When the ignition key is turned to the "on" position is the check engine light lit and it shuts off when the engine starts running? Are the brakes adjusted too tight? Are any of the pulleys hard to turn by hand? Any leaks in the fuel system, including leaky injectors? Fuel pressure regulator is tested for proper functioning? Sorry I'm answering your question with questions but these are a few things that could cause a poor gas mileage. You should get at least 18 miles per gallon in the city. If you are not mechanically inclined, please have an ASE certified tech to have a look at the problem.
