Nissan Repair: Trunk release/BCM problem, infinity g35x, body control module bcm

Question
Trunk release in 2005 Infinity G35X not working - local shop says power is flowing , wires, fuses Ok etc but problem is in the BCM and needs to go to Nissan shop for re- programming or replacement . If re- progamming is the problem is this somehting that I can do and if so, how

Answer
The body control module (BCM)controls the alarm system as well. With the alarm activated, try to open one of the doors with just the key preferably with one without a chip or open the door through an open window. When the alarm goes off, open the trunk with the key and then close it again. If the alarm stops there's nothing wrong with the module but rather a problem with the solenoid that activates the lock system. I don't see why a BCM needs to be reprogrammed unless is a replacement from a different vehicle. And that is not something that you can do, so I recommend to have a qualified Nissan tech look at the problem. Also, replacing any parts with new ones is not recommended before a complete diagnosis first. I hope this helps :)
