Nissan Repair: Blinking airbag light, haynes manual, negative cable

Question
QUESTION: Hello,
Today I replaced the ignition lock cylinder in my 1995 Nissan Quest.
I used the Haynes manual for guidance.
I did as the manual instructed and disabled the airbag.
When I was finished I reconnected the airbag.
When I start the van the airbag light blinks and doesn't stop blinking.
This is how I reconnected it.
With key in "OFF" position I reconnected the two pin connecter through the access panel underneath the stirring wheel.
When that was done I reconnected the negative cable to the battery.
If it helps, when I disabled airbag I disconnected negative cable for the battery. I waited 10 minutes as the manual instructed then I disconnected the two pin airbag connecter through the panel under the steering wheel.
I've never had a problem with the light blinking before but I've never had to disconnect the airbag either.
Any ideas or advice?
Thanks so much for your time!
Joe

ANSWER: Hi Joe -

try this -

1
Turn the ignition switch from off to on

2
Air Bag warning lamp is on for 7 seconds and turns off, the turn ignition switch OFF within 1 second after the lamp turn off.

3
Turn ignition switch back off for more then 3 seconds

4
Repeat steps 1-3 twice so it will be 3 times total

5
Then turn the switch back on and the light should be reset. When you start the car, the light should come on for about 7 seconds and then turn off

Hope this helps -

QUESTION: Thanks for the tip, unfortunately it didn't work. My light still blinks.

Thanks again for your help.

Answer
Hi Joe -

I only have one more instruction:

open the driver door and find the open/closed contact switch for the door. Start the car, then press this button 5 times. This resets the air bag indication.

This is more for Altimas, but who knows, it may work for your Quest.

Hope this helps -
