Nissan Repair: 2005 Altima 2.5L Fuel Pump replace, 2005 nissan altima, fuel pump relay

Question
Hi Calvin,
I have a 2005 Nissan Altima with a 2.5L engine that either needs a fuel pump or a fuel pump relay. So I am asking 1. Where is the fuel pump relay and what does it look like? and
2. What do I need to do to replace the fuel pump? Do I need to take down the gas tank or is there an access panel somewhere? Thank you in advance for your help. I truly appreciate it.
Jim

Answer
Hi Jim -

The fuel pump relay is located behind the dash near the fuse box, or in the large circuit fuse box under the hood on the fenderwell. Look for a black box where you can remove the long rectangular cover. All should be labeled. It is square with about 4 wires attached to it, or if it is under hood, it is a plug in.

Fuel pump is in the fuel tank. I do believe the Altima has an access panel to get to the fuel pump. Remove the back seat (bottom part) and it should be there. Be careful when re-installing as there is a cradle in the tank that the pump must sit on. Note the angle when removing.

Hope this helps -
