Nissan Repair: Infiniti i30, temp guage, infiniti i30

Question
I have a 2001 i30.  The other day while driving home, the check engine light came on and I noticed that I was not getting much heat in the car(it was about 25 degrees outside).  I also noticed that the temp guage was reading at cold and only moved slightly up when I was stopped or turned the heat off.  What gives?  Thermostat prob?  Thanks for any and all help.

Answer
Hi Victor -

The best way to tackle this is find out why the Check engine light came on. You need to take it to have an OBD done. This will pull the code from the car's computer, and from the code definition, we can go from there. There are literally hundreds of codes. I think Autozone does this service for free.

Once you have the code, you will have the definition and we can narrow the problem down.

It does look like it is something to do with the thermostat

Let me know -
