Nissan Repair: 97 maxima, kick starter, bendix

I changed the Kick Starter of my 97 MAXIMA.The new starter worked but stopped working next day.All i noticed was that the new nissan kick starter had a different Bendix inside it thats different. Could this be a problem as to why it wont start my 97 maxima.plz help

I need to clarify a couple things. I guess we name parts differently here.

When you say kick starter, I assume you mean the solenoid?

You said the starter stopped working the next day. Did it just click, or no sound at all?

How was the Bendix drive gear different?
