Nissan Repair: timing belt, knotch, sound thanks

Question
Hi,
1999 3.3L pathfinder

What could I expect to hear noise wise from the engine when it runs if I replaced the timing belt and I might be one knotch off on one of the cam sprockets? My engine seems to sound fine, just not sure if I am hearing a minor tapping sound.

Thanks

Answer
Rob,

Noise coming from replacement of a timing belt usually comes from using an old tensioner, idler pulley or the water pump.  I replace all of these when I am in there.  I have had to tear a couple down again for a bad pump or pulley a few months later and refuse to do the job if I cannot replace all the parts that spin, along with the belt.  Also, I always use a factory belt.
