Nissan Repair: 1998 Nissan Altima manual 2.4, crank angle sensor, obdii scanner

Question
Hi hope i can get some advice. my cr is getting no spark! I had the problem before and it was the distributor module so my step father and I took one off a used distributor. Again a year later the car started sounding very loud around the timing chain so my we take the top off the engine and see if the chain was lose and check if the guards were taken off. we find no guard which we were told were taken off anyways after this model but the sound is unbearable. on my way home from a 25 mile drive the car shuts down on me. not spark and I have just replaced the distributor and still no spark.you can hear the fuel pump the engine tries but no spark > what could it be?

Answer
Jon,

You need to get a scanner and read the codes.  Email them to me.

If you have replaced the distributor and it does not run replace the ignitor after checking all fuses and fuse links.

If is still does not run replace the crank angle sensor.

But, I seriously would pull the codes with an OBDII scanner before you purchase anything else.  Most parts stores rent them if you cannot get your car to them for a free computer code reading.
