Nissan Repair: door lock/ interior lights failure, nissan maxima, body control module

Question
QUESTION: HELLO, I OWN A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA,ITS A FOUR DOOR WITH KEY LOCK ONLY ON THE DRIVER DOOR. WHEN I INSERT MY KEY IN THE LOCK AND TURN TO THE RIGHT MY DOORS WANT UNLOCK AND MY INTERIOR LIGHTS QUIT COMING ON, ALL MY PUSHIN FUSES UNDER DASH CHECKED TO BE GOOD, IF THERE IS ANOTHER FUSE FOR DOOR LOCKS CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE IT IS LOCATED,OR CAN YOU TELL ME WHATS MAY BE THE PROBLEM

ANSWER: Wesley,

Either the door lock switch has failed or the master switch on the driver's door has shorted.  Do the locks work with the master switch lock on the driver's door?  Does the system work with the keyfob?  Email me back and let me know.

Answer
Wesley,

Either the master switch has failed or the body control module has failed.  I would remove the door panel and inspect the back of the key lock and see if the wires are broken or if it is damaged.  If there is no damage and the master control switch is good would mean the body control module is defective.  If you have a remote use it and see if that solves the problem.  You can get a keyfob for under $100 bucks and that would be cheaper than correcting the switch.
