Nissan Repair: 04 Nissan Pathfinder P0011 code, camshaft position sensor, nissan pathfinder

Question
Daughter owns the '04 Pathfinder and she knocked a hole in the radiator.  She had it fixed and they replaced the thermostat as she had gotten the car hot.  Didn't work still ran hot.  I step in and get the car find head gasket blown.  Got the heads reworked, replaced head gasket and new head bolts, replaced the 2nd thermostat.  Got it back together and keep getting the P0011 code.  Car runs fine then loses power and chugs for a minute or two then back to running great.  Replaced the camshaft position sensor, which was the fix my computer gave me.  Also checked the oil to make sure it was correct.  Still getting the P0011 code.  Put in new camshaft position sensor.  Runs great, but now the check engine light comes on after we get to a place shut the car off and restart it after awhile and within 2 blocks of home the light comes on and the P0011 code comes up.  No other code.  I also replaced the camshaft advancement sensor.  Still getting the same code, P0011 on bank 1 timing too far advanced.  I am turning gray and am pulling my hair out.  I would like to get this car back to my daughter and get my truck back.  Can you give me any idea where to look at next??

Answer
Ross,

The code can also reflect that the actuator and not the sensor is defective and causing the cam advance problem.  Have this checked before you purchase the cam position sensor.  That should not be the problem and should reflect an issue with the advance mechanism.
