Nissan Repair: 94 nissan brakes, nissan hardbody, brakes squeal

Question
94 nissan hardbody. Brakes squeal VERY loudly when cold, not so much under normal operating temps, usually not much at all. There is almost a grinding feel if you will under braking sometimes. The grinding is very subtle but its like you can feel it and hear it, but not like something is definitely wrong. I removed front 2 wheels ready to replace pads and rotors and the pads look like they have a lot of life left and the rotors look pretty good too. I'm stumped. I have done brake jobs before on my 01 tacoma but this is kind of weird. Is there any suggestions you might have before I put the wheels back on? It seems as tough everything is fine. Thank you, Joe

Answer
Hi Joe -

First of all, ensure it is the front brakes.

If so, then the brakes need service. Remove the pads from the caliper, clean all contact surfaces with brake cleaner spray. Get some high temp grease and coat all the contact surfaces. Pads, caliper (4 areas). Be careful not to get grease on the rotors.

Replace the caliper and pads.

That should do the trick -
Hope this helps -
