Nissan Repair: Altima wont start, nissan altima gxe, nissan altima

Question
I have a 1993 Nissan altima gxe which just won't start I turn the key and it just goes click. We had the battery checked and it came back good replaced the solenoid and the starter and still nothing. My roommate and I are stumped am I sending my car to the shop or is there something else I can check?

Answer
Hi John -

There are 3 things that causes a car to do that.

Loose or dirty connections at the battery terminal

Defective battery

Defective starter

Try this - with the headlights on, try starting the car. If the headlights suddenly go dim or shut off, the battery is defective.

If the headlights stay strong, then I would have the starter motor checked. Did you purchase a new starter, or was it re-conditioned?

Let me know how this goes -
