Nissan Repair: 1997 nissan altima gxe no start, nissan altima, fuel pump relay

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1997 altima gxe that I bought with a blown engine. I swapped the engine out and have a no start problem. the engine has spark and fuel however all 4 injectors fire at the same time which I have found out that is normal on first start. I have tried to scan the eccs for codes but have no communication with computer. All the grounds check good and the eccs relay clicks when key is turned on. If I remove the fuel pump relay and spray the intake it will start. I replaced the crank sensor and no change. I just need to know how to rule out the eccs and cam sensor before spending a lot of money on parts I don't need.

ANSWER: Brady,

Pretty sure yours has a distributor.  I would replace it with the other distributor from the original engine and see how that goes.  The cam position sensor is what fires the plugs and that seems to be the problem.  Check it out and let me know if you need more information.

QUESTION: the plugs all fire the problem I am having is with the injectors not switching to pulse on compression stroke instead of all at the same time and no communication with ecm (eccs) which is likely the cause of the other problem. The engine will start with the fuel pump relay out and spraying the intake with throttle body spray. I do not have another dist. it is the one that was in the car originally.

Answer
Brady,

The injectors fire by being grounded by the ECM.  Micro-relays ground the specific circuit and that is how the ECM controls the injectors.  The distributor provides the signal to the ECM to perform this.  There has to be something wired incorrectly or shorted to be causing the constant flooding.  I would check for a defective relay if you are getting the switching signal from the distributor.
