QuestionQUESTION: The air control dial just turns but does not direct the air
flow from dash board where it was all summer with the air on
to defrost which I will be needing this winter. The dial
will turn loosely and when i turn it back from defrost it
catches and all i hear is a click. It appears to be broken.
Can I replace just the dial or do I need to replace the
whole assembly. How do I get to it?

Need to know what year, make and model your Nissan is.
You are correct, looks like the control is broken, however most likely you will have to go to the dealer to get the part. Give me the info, or even a photo, and I can give you more detailed information.

Yes, you will need the A/C fan speed switch. You can probably use the same knob you have if it is not cracked or worn. I do not think the new switch comes with it. This is a dealer item only, so call your local Nissan Dealership. You might find something on line - try www.autozone.com, or www.2carpros.com.

QUESTION: So your saying the a/c fan speed switch is the one that
directs the air from floor, dash or defrost. I have the fan
speed working I just can't direct heat from floor to dash.
Sorry, I just don't want to purchase the wrong part. So I have
to pull everything out including radio etc?

I was confusing you with a similar client.
It is the selector control you need, not the fan switch. Sorry about the confusion. Most of the time they will have a phot of what you are buying, just ensure that it is the same. Usually there are no returns on electrical items.
