QuestionQUESTION: hello Calvin, i read through your previous answers to get help for my problems and they helped a lot. i would just like to focus my efforts a little more by asking a few questions of my own.
My problem is that my brake lights in my 1994 nissan maxima gxe keep shorting out. ive traced the lines through the body and trunk and did not find any exposed wires but wrapped them all up anyway to be safe. This fixed the problem for a short while but it returned.
As i read in your previous answers you suggested the brake switch, the turn signal switch and the lamp sockets. the lamp sockets upon inspection seemed all right, no loose connections or rust. could my problem be one of the other two or something completely different?

QUESTION: Yes the fuse blows almost instantly. Also I dont have a light circuit tester but the fuses I use light up when blown

OK, looks like you have a direct short somewhere. It is a lot easier with that circuit tester, a few dollars at any automotive store.
However - we can check a few things without it - You will need a bunch of fuses, just in case.
Remove both left and right brake light bulbs
Disconnect the following:
Left and right side rear light sockets. Find the wire connector and pull it apart for both left and right side light fixtures. Just removing the bulb is not enough.
Brake switch - located above the brake pedal on a bracket
Turn signal switch on the steering column. Might have to remove the plastic housing on the wheel.
Start with this. Put a new fuse in your fuse box and then connect back each component, one at a time, checking the brake lights as you finish installing each item. When the fuse blows, then you have found the problem, or at least close to it.
