My 93 Nissan sentra has been acting up
lately. Here is what I have done to it: clutch
replacement, oil change, new spark plugs,
new air filter, replaced some seals, had the
spark plug wires looked at, along with the
distributor. Here is the problem: the car IS
hard to start, typically cranks 3-5 seconds. It
will ocationally die at a stop, unless the AC is
running. Also a bit of a stutter when taking
off and an odd faint noise coming from the
engine, I think the left side, sometimes after
the car has been started, very little time
starting again, it will start a little better. Any
recogmendations? Any how-to tips? Also,
the throttle body was cleaned and the IAC
valve replaced. Thanks!

QUESTION: The idle is very low while parked. Like very quiet. Also if it help it was
running so low, we turned the distributor as far as It could go up, just to
keep it running. Thanks
ANSWER: Hi Kyle -
Do you have the idle speed? Your vehicle should have a tach where you can determine the idle speed. I was going to tell you it could be just a matter of raising the idle a bit. Should be about 750RPM in park.
What is the engine size? (if you want instructions on how to adjust idle).

QUESTION: The 93 XE model actually doesn't have the tach Gage. I have the 1.6 L.
Would the idle speed effect how it starts??? Also... Could you tell me how
to adjust it? Thanks

Yes, the idles speed adjustment could definitely affect how your car starts.
I was going to show you a photo of where the adjustment screw is, however I am stepping into a meeting right now. If you either wait a bit, or better yet, take a photo of the linkage and intake boot area, I can explain once you send me the photo, as it is hard to do this in writing.
