Nissan Repair: transmission, nissan frontier, oil level

Question
i have a 00 nissan frontier truck 2wd when i put it in  drive it takes about 3,000 rpms to move i think it is stuck in 2 how can i fix this?

Hi Charles -

Seems like the transmission is shot to me. I am assuming the oil level is fine -

Pull the dipstick out and check the color and smell of the oil. If it is more brown than red, and if it smells burnt, then the transmission probably needs an overhaul. Especially if reverse is working fine.
