Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan Maxima, nissan maxima, lean mixture

Question
My engine light was on so i had it put on the computer...EGRC solenoid(p1400) and throttle positioning sensor were detected by diagnostics.replaced both parts and the engine light is still on along with several new codes...heat sensor, oxygen sensor, and coolant sensor.should i clear the codes to fix problem or does it still exsist because it still drives very rough and acceleration is very slow although it has a bit more power(once it finally does accelerate).it is also hard to start...you have to pump the gas while turning the ignition to start the car. could i have flooded my spark plugs by having to start my car up this way causing it to behave as it is?pleease help!!!could it be my fuses in the fuse box at the left of the steering wheel?

Answer
Hi Joy -

It is always a toughie when things like this happen. The Maxima for some reason is infamous for all these codes, and being 1987, was just infant technology then.

My advice, as many of your existing codes may be nuisance codes, is to clear it, run it for a few days, and see what returns, if anything. I think Autozone will check it for free.

Once you have the new codes, please share them with me so I can diagnose further. I will need the code numbers themselves, for instance the O2 sensor has many codes associated with it, so if you just say O2 sensor, could be anything from low voltage input, to out of parameters, to rich or lean mixture, etc.

Hope this helps -
