Nissan Repair: PO340, camshaft position sensor, nissan maxima

I have a 2000 nissan maxima and the pocket scan shows code PO340. Q. how can I repair this myself (if possible)? and do I know where the problem is coming from (camshaft? wiring? shortcurcuit?)?  please help. thank you

The P0340 is the camshaft position sensor.  This is located on the timing cover, passenger side, closer to the top.  The one at the crank is the crank position sensor.  Purchase the camshaft position sensor and replace it.  Reset the code and you should be fine.  If you can wait you could order one from courtesyparts.com and save some money.  This is a dealership in Richardson, Texas and they sell on-line at the jobber rate.  If you live in Texas you have to pay sales tax.  But, if not they have most anything you need for a Nissan.
