Nissan Repair: Nissan Altima, 2006 nissan altima, nissan altima

Question
I have a 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5 S with 70,000 miles. This winter the heater started to act up. When I am sitting still it usually only blows cold air, but when I am moving it blows hot air. Even after it has been driven 30 to 40 minutes and I stop it will sometimes blow cold air. Do you know what could be wrong?
Thanks, Brad

Answer
Brad,

Two things here.  First, feel the heater hoses at the firewall after the car is warm.  If the hoses are cold you probably have air trapped in the hose.  If that is the case the air will ahve to be purged to get the coolant flowing.  Second, if the temperature is not reading normal (the middle) then the thermostat is in need of replacement.
