Nissan Repair: 1999 Infiniti I-30 Electrical Problems, power door locks, winshield wipers

Question
QUESTION: My 1999 Infiniti I-30 has been sitting for about 6 months. The battery died during this time. I bought a new battery but when I started the engine several things electronically didnt work any more. For instance the winshield wipers and the windowas and power locks. I have tried replacing the fuses but that doesnt do anything. What could be the problem?

ANSWER: Andrew,

Check the master fuses at the positive terminal of the battery.  If those are good then you will need to backprobe the harness to see where the open is. Wipers, windows and power door locks are switched and if the relay is not grounding these will not work.

QUESTION: Ok I will check the master fuses first. That was just a few of the electrical problems... Mainly anything inside the cab doesnt work like the lights, speakers, radio, and ac aswell. Would this all be fixed by the master fuses aswell? And could it have been possible that we popped the master fuses trying to jump the battery before I bought the replacement?

Answer
Andrew,

If the fuses at the battery are good then check the output of the ignition switch.  Pull the cover and see if the switch is allowing current to pass to the fuse box that feeds those items you describe.  Electrical issues are a difficult issue to resolve and it takes time to trace them back to the source.
