Nissan Repair: 2008 Nissan Xterra 4x4 V-6, 2008 nissan xterra, factory wiring harness

Question
Hello, I have an '08 Nissan Xterra V-6 4x4. This vehicle did not come with fog lights. The dealer will not touch it because it does not have the factory wiring harness in the steering column. Can you tell me the easiest way to wire in an aftermarket fog light system? I don't need to know where to mount then, just where to find the power supply and ground.

Thank you!

Answer
Andrew,

You could go to courtesyparts.com and ask them for the correct headlamp switch that has the integrated fog lamp switch along with the fog light kit.  If this is unavailable you can source an aftermarket set and install them.  Remember that fog lights draw high amps so you will need to use the relay provided with the kit and tie into the battery with a fused wire.  This will come with the kit as well.  Next, you will have to mount the switch in the cab and source power from an empty slot on the fuse panel.  Be sure to fuse this, in line, as well.  Chassis ground for the switch can be provided under the dash on bare metal.  The kick panel or the center brace are both good for this.
