Nissan Repair: Automatic seat adjustment 1997 Infiniti Q45, 1997 infiniti q45, infiniti q45

Question
This car has an automatic seat adjustment for the driver's seat when the key is entered in the ignition.  It is not working.  What are the remedies, and would it be expensive to repair?

Answer
Rick,

The seat track is known for binding up and killing the seat motor.  Infiniti of Phoenix is a good source for a replacement motor.  Upwards of $600 bucks at the dealer and about half if you do it yourself.  If yours has side airbags in the seat you will have to disconnect the battery before you unplug the harness under the seat.  Otherwise, the airbag light will set and it is another $100 bucks to get it turned off.  So, disconnect the battery first and wait five minutes before unbolting the seat to get to the motor under it.  I will assume the forward and back is the problem?  For some reason that fails before the recline portion...
