Nissan Repair: 1992 Nissan Maxima just quits at speed, nissan maxima, fuel mixture

My roommates 1992 Nissan Maxima starts fine and runs well but suddenly quits at speed. No warning, sputtering or coughing. After a few seconds of coasting, it suddenly starts up and runs smooth again. This is pretty disconcerting on a freeway. She loves her car but doesn't have faith in it to drive home (400 mi, one way). Can you help?

sorry the only thing that I can think of is the oxygen sensor, it gets stuck thinking the car is running rich on fuel and starts to lean out the fuel mixture, causing it to stall, once you pull over and turn the key off it resets the computer and the car will start right back up again and run fine.
