Nissan Repair: steering wheel, steering wheel puller, nissan sentra

Question
what do i need to change for a swap on a steering wheel of a 2002 Nissan sentra SE-R to a 1999 Nissan frontier? thanks for your help.

Answer
Benjamin,

Both have airbags and I would not recommend doing it yourself.  But, if it were going to be done you need a steering wheel puller and the socket to get the nut off.  But, before any of that you have to disconnect the battery first.  Then, remove the airbag fuse and wait five minutes.  Then, remove the knee bolster under the steering wheel.  Unplug the yellow harness to the airbag.  Then, wait another five minutes.  Now, stay out of the business end of the airbag so if it deploys it does not hurt of kill you.  There are two torx bit bolts that hold it on.  Remove these and disconnect the connector.  Hold the busines end, padded side, away from you and sit it face up so it will not launch if it goes off.  Never hook up the battery until everything is back together or the airbag code will set and it will cost $100 bucks to get the light reset.  Now, I do not even know if the airbag is compatible with the older vehicle.  So, again, I would recommend against doing it.  I would take it to a professional and I take no responsibility for you taking on this one.  Airbags are dangerous in close quarters.  If you did not know the original patent was for executing people and not saving people...
