Nissan Repair: 1997 nissian p-up, mass air flow, maf

QUESTION: I have 1997 4x4 . I just replaced the maf in aug. because the code read bad and it would not rev over 2500 rpm. It is now doing one of two things, stared missing at 2000 and will not rev over 2500 or it will run  fine and not idle until the temp gage moves up then it will run fine until the next start up.Both problems quit when warm. Exhaust smells and shows bad maf,again but why will it run fine when warm?


ANSWER: what engine is in it V6 or 4 cylinder, did you install a used or new MAF?

QUESTION: 4 cly and it was a new ome replacement. just add when it is in the no idle mode it goes 900 to 800 , 900 to 700 up and down until it dies.

not sure about that one.  check the connections to make sure the terminals are all good and nice and tight when they go over the pins, also maybe try cleaning the mass air flow element with a spray of brake clean, then see if that is any better.  when you installed the new MAF did you apply that white crean to the back of it between the sensor and the trottle body?  this helps dissipate the heat.  failing that possible MAF or engine control unit or wiring concern.
