Nissan Repair: 96 Nissan Sentra will not start, nissan sentra, baking soda

Question
I have changed the starter in my car and it still will not start. When I turn the key everything inside and outside works. I can hear the solenoid clicking. I put a jump on it, thinking maybe I was wrong and it was the battery, and nothing still. I do have a loose accessory connection on my battery that I need to tighten up every now again but that doesn't seem to be it since everything else works. I also jiggled(technical term) the positive connection on the battery while cranking with nothing. There some smoke though coming from the battery at this time and I don't know about that either. Maybe I caused it somehow or maybe I should be smarter and realize that is the problem. I don't know. Any help here would be great.

Answer
Hi Scott -

Looks like you have a loose or corroded connection at the battery terminals. Best thing is to remove both terminals, soak them in water/baking soda solution, and then dry it off. One dried, take each terminal apart (some are held together with a bolt or screw) and sand all areas till shiny. Replace and you should be good to go.

hope this helps -
