Nissan Repair: electrical problems, nissan 240sx, carbon brushes

Question
QUESTION: What could be causing my ignition fuse to be going out? Could it be my ignition going out

ANSWER: Oscar,

A high load like a defective ignition switch could cause the fuse to blow.  Also, if there is resistance in teh circuit like bad cables or a shorted wire to the starter or coil could cause it too.  The electrical system should be inspected for these things.  I do not know the year of the car or if your ignition switch feels loose or if it is binding.  There are carbon brushes that pass over copper contacts when turned.

QUESTION: the car is a 95 nissan 240sx and the fusible link pops intermittently sometimes real fast other times a day or two until it pops. I've checked for wires loose or grounding and have not found any bad wire

Answer
Oscar,

This is going to sounds strange but under the drivers seat is a power wire that sometimes gets melted to the floor pan.  The converter is under the car there and tends to melt this wire causing it to ground out and make the fusible link blow.  CHeck under the seat for cooked carpet and under at the wire.  Let me know what you find.
