Nissan Repair: 1995 nissam maxima rpm gauge shaking?, nissam maxima, far hope

hi...i noticed yesterday while i was driving my rpm gauge was acting weird it would go to about 2 and a half and just sit there and shake...when i start it U can see it kinda floating a lil bit but when i start driving it jumps up after the gears shift....but the car is running fine...is there some kind of sensor for that gauge? what could it be?

Hi April -

Looks like your tachometer (that's what it is called) is defective and needs replacement. Sometimes it is just a ground fault, and the problem goes away by itself, but in order to check that you will still have to take the instrument panel out and remove the tach. Might as well replace it if you are going that far.
