Nissan Repair: shudder after fuel filter change/tune-up, air control valve, filter change

Question
Hi. I took my 96 Quest van in for a tuneup. The car had not been starting up quickly in the pm but had no problem starting up in the am. It was turning over fine, so I took it in for a tuneup. The rotor cap, wires, and fuel filter were changed, as was the oil. The day after the tuneup, after driving the car for about 10 minutes in town, I noticed a strong shudder when I stopped at traffic lights. The shudder goes away when I drive faster, but reappears when I slow to the next stop. The engine sounds really choppy when idling.  FYI, this is a new mechanic who has never worked on my car before.
Thank you very much.

Answer
Alipio,

You might have the idle air control valve inspected and the throttle body cleaned.  Taking vacuum hoses off to get to items could cause one of them to crack.  Remember that it is a 1996 and when things are disturbed during a tune up things can happen.  I would take it back and have them look at the items I mentioned.  But, it is probably not the mechanic so have them take a second look...
