Nissan Repair: 85 300zx turbo starting problem, air control valve, diags

Question
Hello,

This problem has been ongoing for a long time and I can't figure it out. When I start the car it's fine but after about a minute the idle drops and it goes full rich. If I hit the accelerator to get the rpms up, it bogs and stutters. But then, as soon as it reaches operating temp, all that stops and it runs fine. I have replaced the cold start sensor and the crank position sensor. I also ran the diags on the computer and came up with nothing. Any ideas? Your help would be much appreciated!

Answer
Kathy,

I would pull and clean the throttle body and replace the idle air control valve.  Since you already replaced the cold start sensor that is the other place that controls the idle.  Once warm the idle control does not move much.  Also, if you have not replaced the plugs in the last two years this would be a good time.
