I have acquired a 1984 nissan truck that is not running it will run with gas or starting fluid in the carb i have replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump and it still will not run any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated

The carburetor probably needs to be rebuilt or replaced.  There is a power valve in the carburetor that fails.  It looks like a brass pen with wires coming out.  You can remove the top of the carburetor and replace the power valve and see how that does.  While the top is off you can inspect the float and the bowl for debris.
